This robust solar canopy spans the width of 2 parking bays (with a 2m central reservation). The modular design means maximum flexibility in length to fill the available space. Helios - Modular Steel Solar PV Canopy
Helios is a giant steel framed carport and spans the width of 2 x 5m parking bays with a 1m central curbed reservation (11m wide total). Available from 12.50m long this modular solar canopy can be made to any required length. The Helios Solar Canopy comes complete with JA Solar 595W Mono PERC Solar PV Panels and Rolec Quantum 4-way EV chargers (if required) in either 7.4kW (single-phase) or 22kW (three-phase) charge speeds .
Provide protection for you customers cars and generate electricity to sell via your EV chargers or to use in your commercial premises. Available with a multitude of options including structure dimensions, colour finish or inlaid with timber to name just a few. This solar carport is stylish, robust and capable of producing significant solar power.

Helios — The Sun God of the Greeks
In ancient Greek religion and mythology, Helios is the god and personification of the Sun (Solar deity). He drove a chariot daily from east to west across the sky and sailed around the northerly stream of Ocean each night in a huge cup. Helios, was the only son of the Titans Hyperion (“The High One”) and Theia (“divine”; sometimes also called Euryphaessa, the “wide-shining”). The couple had two daughters as well. According to most accounts, Helios was married to the Oceanid Perse (or Perseis) with whom he had at least four children: Aeetes and Perses, both kings of Colchis at different times; Pasiphae, the wife of Minos and the mother of the Minotaur; and Circe, the powerful enchantress of Aeaea.

There are many good reasons to install a solar canopy in your carpark. As the number of electric cars in the UK grows so do the requirements to charge them, especially in car parks, and this is set to increase rapidly. If you wish to supply free charging to your staff or customers or you would like to increase the revenue from your parking spaces the Thor has the flexibility to fulfil many needs.
Helios is a steel frame solar canopy that has been designed as a cost-efficient robust solution to providing solar power generation directly from your car park. This modular carport requires 10m in width but can be as long as required, simply with the ‘add-on’ units. The starter unit is a two leg structure and includes purlins and solar panels. Further ‘add on’ units consisting of another support section, set of purlins, roofing panels, fixings and solar panels. The add-ons can be installed with up to 11.25m between leg spans and can be installed with the starting unit or at any future time.
Helios solar canopy is ideal for any commercial carpark, office, shop or to provide solar capacity and dry cover for any reason.. The elegant and simple design means this structure looks great outside any building.
We can even install timber inlays into the steels, add branding, colour code and provide methods to offer advertising space.
JA Solar offers a high-efficiency module, which, thanks to its half-cell configuration, offers high power output, better temperature coefficient, lower efficiency loss against shading, and higher resistance to mechanical loads. JA solar panels come with a 12-year product warranty and a 25-year linear output warranty.

Easy to extend now or at a future time... Add on units can provide additional roof space and create a structure of any length. Each add-on unit can add up to another 11.25m of roof space and 6 standard parking bays per section.

- An Apollo add-on unit (at 7.5m) includes an additional 30 x 595W JA Solar Mono PERC Half-Cell Solar Panels
- Giving a total Watt power rating of 17.85 kW (per 7.5m add-on section)^

Flexible widths for flexible parking layouts
Parking Bay Sizes: When assessing the area needed for staff and customer parking, it should be noted that the current UK norm for parking spaces is 2.4m wide by 4.8 m long. However please note that several models of modern vehicles are more the 4.8m long. The recommended space for manoeuvring (roadways) between bays is 6m. These dimensions are neither minimum nor written in tablets of stone, and may be revised to suit your particular needs, but remember that good access and wider bays aids efficient use of the parking area. KaraSolar will use a standard size parking bay of 2.5m wide by 5.0m long unless stated otherwise.

Bay Sizes For Motorists With Disabilities: The BSI British Standards Code provides some guidance as to what is required - disabled access parking spaces should be 2400mm x 4800mm with a 1200mm wide marked access zone between spaces and a 1200mm wide safety zone for boot access. Government guidelines (Inclusive Mobility published by DfT) recommend that 6% of parking should be allocated to disabled people, unless otherwise covered by local planning regulations. The guidance also recommends how to identify these spaces, with special markings and signage.
EV Charger Bay Sizes: It is recommended to leave additional access zones between parking bays intended for EV Charging. This allows for some vehicles that plug and charge from the side. These bays should also be clearly marked and include eye level signage.
Disabled EV Charger Bays: As the number of electric vehicles in the UK grows as will the requirement for EV charger bays. There are currently no guidelines on providing disabled parking bays with EV chargers so we highly recommend creating EV charger bays with the required 1.2m marked area between the bays and thus automatically making all your EV charger bays suitable for people with disabilities.
